Review – Bliss: The Game for Lovers

If you’ve ever been sitting at your computer pondering, “I love having sex…and I love my computer, so what’s the best way to introduce those two and see how they get along!” Of course you’ve never pondered that! BUT what if there was a way to bring the computer into the bedroom and make it an interactive part of your love making? That is exactly what Bliss does. If you have a computer in your bedroom, or have a laptop handy, this little piece of software can add a dynamic to your love life that is both unique and fun.
I discovered Bliss while rummaging around my daily list of must read sex blogs. One of my favorites, Sex Drive Daily (blog.wired.com/sex) happens to spend an inordinate amount of time covering sex and the video game industry. Most of the time when I look at the posts and links I come away thinking ‘polygon porn’ just isn’t my thing. I’m an avid video gamer and would LOVE to find something that I can enjoy! She linked Bliss with the caveat of; it may not look like much but wait till you try it!
When I first looked at the game my first reaction was, “Lame, its monopoly…only the board stops at Baltic Avenue!” Only my devotion to Sex Drive Daily kept me from hitting the back button. I downloaded the trial (74 MB’s for the ‘high bandwidth’ edition) and installed it right at the office (who could be offended by a low rent version of monopoly?)
The game mechanics:
Bliss starts you off by asking you and your partners’ names. Then proceeds to ask you questions about yourself, what are you wearing? What type of ‘toys’ are available? What do you enjoy doing with your partner? After all these questions are answered you begin the game. It plays just like Monopoly. You roll and your little piece moves around the board. The board is littered with preconfigured spots (A la free parking) and the rest of it is open to be purchased and developed by the players. When you purchase these properties you can build an array of businesses. These include gyms, massage parlors, and photo studios. That pretty much covers the basics; you roll to move around the board and either purchase properties and upgrade, or stay at the previously developed spots.
The game play:
The fun of bliss is what happens after you land on a spot on the board. Bliss skips all the fancy graphics and sounds and goes right to the fun part. This includes a 30 second French kiss with your girls hands tied behind her back, and copious use of a feather on bare skin. As you play the game you slowly find your self in various states of undress. At one point I had been naked for nearly an hour (minus my sox) while Mistress M. was merely topless. This odd play of naked boobies and socks made the situation highly erotic! When the game finally got around to telling Mistress M. to ‘take it all off’ she was so worked up that she practically begged me to rip the clothes off her body!
During our transition from fully clothed to fully naked we enjoyed kissing, fondling, caressing and massaging. Most of these exercises are timed and last less than 2 minutes. This means that the array of tantalizing and erotic situations the game puts you in is large. One minute I may be laying with my underwear on while Mistress M. is snapping pictures and the next I could be completely naked with Mistress M. kissing me on my favorite spot! However none of the situations last long enough for orgasm to be reached and all lead to a highly-charged erotic evening.
The results:
Mistress M. and I enjoyed close to 3 hours of fun playing Bliss. Between playing doctor and ‘kissing her where it hurt’ and getting silly pictures drawn on various parts of my body we both laughed and moaned. We actually played until we couldn’t take it any longer and ended it with vigorous sex. The game was willing to go on (we think) for infinity. The basic version does not include intercourse, and our favorite way to end most nights is with a lusty romp and this was especially true after 3 hours of Bliss!
The good:
The game does a great job of introducing lots of different ways of teasing and pleasing. We touched each other in ways we never would have without the prodding of Bliss. It also is enjoyable. We laughed at each other and ourselves. We laughed at me trying to do a chipendale-type dance. Although the game never got us fully charged to where we had to do it or we would lose our minds, it did offer a 3 hour long hard on for me and lots of wet moments for her.
The bad:
We often found ourselves laughing more than fwapping. For men who cant dance (me) doing a chipendale review is a sure-fire way to ruin a romantic evening. The game also tends to drag on. Waiting 3 hours for her first penetration didn’t sit to well with Mistress M. Our game seemed to focus primarily on the man. Mistress M. felt like she was “doing all the work.” She’s convinced that the person who wrote it didn’t get enough input from his wife.
Conclusion:
We think this game is definitely worth the download for the trial. We enjoyed ourselves and would probably play it again. There are several add-ons to the game which we have not tried. One of these add-ons includes a full penetration and BDSM module.
